Parisen viikkoa sitten vietettiin Vapriikissa perinteist\u00e4 vintage-tapahtumaa. Teemana oli t\u00e4ll\u00e4 kertaa itseoikeutetusti Marilyn, onhan h\u00e4n Vapriikin t\u00e4m\u00e4n hetkisen p\u00e4\u00e4n\u00e4yttelyn t\u00e4hti.\u00a0 Olin taas tuttuun tapaan juontamassa pukun\u00e4yt\u00f6ksen<\/a>, niin ik\u00e4\u00e4n teeman mukaisesti pukeutuneena silkkisamettiin, turkiksiin ja timangeihin. Yll\u00e4tin kaikki, jopa itseni, avaamalla n\u00e4yt\u00f6ksen laulamalla pienen p\u00e4tk\u00e4n “Diamonds are a girls best friend”-kappaleesta. Kampaus ik\u00e4v\u00e4 kyll\u00e4 l\u00e4ts\u00e4hti kesken juontokeikan, sill\u00e4 kuontaloni kaipaa kipe\u00e4sti uutta permanenttia pit\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n kiharoita ryhdikk\u00e4\u00e4n\u00e4. Hienointa kuitenkin oli ett\u00e4 samalla p\u00e4\u00e4sin vihdoinkin tutustumaan Marilyn-n\u00e4yttelyyn jonka olen halunnut n\u00e4hd\u00e4 siit\u00e4 asti kun se avattiin.<\/p>\n

Ette varmaan tienneet t\u00e4t\u00e4, mutta olin teini-ik\u00e4isen\u00e4 (ja olen viel\u00e4kin)<\/strong><\/span> todellinen Marilyn-fani. Minulla oli monta kansiollista lehdist\u00e4 leikattuja Marilyn-kuvia, postikortteja ja julisteita. Ik\u00e4v\u00e4 kyll\u00e4 heitin er\u00e4\u00e4ss\u00e4 muutossa kaikki lehdist\u00e4 leikatut kuvat pois. Nyt se harmittaa. Postikortteja ja julisteita, sek\u00e4 aarteenani s\u00e4ilytt\u00e4m\u00e4ni kirja minulla edelleen on tallessa. Kun l\u00e4hdimme kaverin kanssa n\u00e4yttely\u00e4 kiert\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n, h\u00e4n p\u00e4\u00e4si loppuun paljon nopeammin. Min\u00e4 tutkin tarkkaan kaiken ja olin vasta h\u00e4din tuskin puoliv\u00e4liss\u00e4 kun h\u00e4n tuli sanomaan ett\u00e4 “Ai sin\u00e4 olet vasta t\u00e4ss\u00e4.” Vastasin ett\u00e4 no min\u00e4 olen tosi-fani, haluan ime\u00e4 kaiken mahdollisen tiedon. Yst\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4 nauratti.<\/p>\n

N\u00e4yttely on koskettava. Marilynin traaginen el\u00e4m\u00e4 avautuu h\u00e4nen henkil\u00f6kohtaisten esineidens\u00e4 kautta. Papiljotti jossa on h\u00e4nen hiuksiaan, lempi housut, irtoripset, nuoruudessa tehty muotipiirros. N\u00e4yttelyn teksteihin koottu historiikki kertoo \u00e4lykk\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4 mutta herk\u00e4st\u00e4 naisesta jolla oli bisnesvainua, p\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 ja tarkka suunnitelma miten siihen p\u00e4\u00e4st\u00e4\u00e4n. H\u00e4n oli oman aikansa kapinallinen, joka ei v\u00e4litt\u00e4nyt sopivaisuuss\u00e4\u00e4nn\u00f6ist\u00e4. Marilynin pukeutuminen ja tyylitaju her\u00e4ttiv\u00e4t huomiota ja raivasivat tiet\u00e4 tulevaisuuden naisille. H\u00e4nen ansiostaan ensimm\u00e4inen tummaihoinen laulaja, Ella Fitzgerald p\u00e4\u00e4si esiintym\u00e4\u00e4n kuuluisalla Mocambo-klubilla jossa mm. Frank Sinatra esiintyi. Marilyn oli naisten ja ihmisoikeuksien puolestapuhuja. H\u00e4nell\u00e4 oli vahva oikeudenmukaisuuden taju.<\/p>\n

Couple weeks ago there was the traditional Vapriikki Vintage event. This time the theme was Marilyn, naturally, because of the current main exhibition in Vapriikki is about Marilyn. I was hosting again the fashion show<\/a>, so I was dressed up according to the theme, in silk velvet, fur and rhinestones. I surprised everyone, even myself, by opening the show by singing short clip from “Diamonds are a girls best friend”. Unfortunately my hairdo started drooping during the show. My hair desperately needs supporting permanent curls to hold my do. But the best thing while in Vapriikki, was that I was able to finally see the Marilyn exhibition. I have wanted to see it since it was opened.<\/p>\n

You probably didn’t know this, but I was (and still am)<\/strong><\/span> huge Marilyn fan. As a teenager I had many folders full of Marilyn pictures, cut from magazines. I also had postcards and posters. Unfortunately I threw all folders away during one of my moves. Now that bothers me quite a bit. I still have some postcards and posters though. And a large book about Marilyn which I have treasured. When me and my friend went to see the exhibition, she was finished much faster. I was investicating everything very closely and was only barely half way when she came to comment to me “Oh you still here”. I replied, well I’m a true fan so want to suck all information like a sponge. Friend found that amusing.<\/p>\n

Exhibition was very moving. Marilyn’s tragic life opens up via her personal belongings. Haircurler with couple of her hairs still on it, favourite trousers, false lashes, fashion drawing from her younger years. Exhibition texts tells the history of an intelligent but very delicate women, who had good business nose, determined goal and specific plan how to get there. She was the rebel of her time, who did not care about social rules. Her choice of clothes and fashion sense were extravagant and made way to other women. It is due to her effort that first black singer, Ella Fitzgerald, were allowed to sing at famous Mocambo club, where forexample Fran Sinatra was performing. Marilyn was huge supporter of women and human rights. She had a strong sense of justice.<\/p>\n

I highly recommend the exhibition. It is open till 2.12.2018 and exclusively in whole Fennoscandia!<\/p>\n
