Suomessa sit\u00e4 toki voi juhlia my\u00f6s juhlapyh\u00e4kalenterimme oikeana pyh\u00e4inp\u00e4iv\u00e4n aattona joka sattuu t\u00e4n\u00e4 vuonna perjantaille 2.11. Alunperin pyh\u00e4inp\u00e4iv\u00e4\u00e4 on Suomessakin vietetty 1.11, mutta nykyisen systeemin mukaan kun kaikki pyh\u00e4t siirret\u00e4\u00e4n viikonloppuun, se voi sattua muillekin marraskuun alkup\u00e4iville.<\/p>\n

\nSadonkorjuun p\u00e4\u00e4ttymist\u00e4 ja talven alkua juhlistetaan kekrill\u00e4. Alkujaan se ei ole ollut sidottu kalenteriin vaan sit\u00e4 on juhlittu silloin kun sadonkorjuu on saatu p\u00e4\u00e4t\u00f6kseen. Juhlissa sy\u00f6tiin hyvin, tanssittiin ja leikittiin. Kekrin aikaan sarvekas kekripukki kiersi pelottelemassa ihmisi\u00e4 ja vaatimassa kestityst\u00e4. Nykyisin kekrin aika ajoittuu Mikkelinp\u00e4iv\u00e4n ja pyh\u00e4inp\u00e4iv\u00e4n v\u00e4liin.<\/p>\n

Halloween has always been my favourite party. Already in the 90’s I arranged home parties with Halloween theme. Unfortunately most of my circles were a bit lame. I remember one time when I was the only one wearing Halloween costume. And another time when I announced that costume was mandatory. Only three guests arrived. These days I don’t really arrange home parties, but in general people are more likely to wear theme costume. Even though we don’t invite guests, that doesn’t mean we don’t decorate. If your Halloween budget is small, not to worry. You can make wonders with just one packet of fake cobweb. Halloween<\/strong><\/span>
\nHalloween is mostly celebrated on 31.10 which is the eve of All Saint’s day in most countries. However here in Finland All Saint’s day can be anything between 31.10 and 6.11.\u00a0 Several years back it was decided that most bank holidays are moved to the weekend. That’s why we don’t get any bank holidays in the middle of the week. Due to that rule people have started to celebrate Halloween here pretty much when ever they want, mostly on the nearest weekend to the 31st of October. This year the actual All Saint’s day is on 3.11, so our “official” Halloween would be Friday 2.11.\u00a0 Some people have already celebrated it this weekend on 27th.<\/p>\n

Kekri<\/strong><\/span>
\nKekri is ancient agricultural festivity, celebrating the end of harvest and beginning of Winter. Originally it was not bound to calendar, but was celebrated when ever people finished harvest. Festivities included eating a lot, dancing, singing and playing. Horned kekri goat traveled from house to house, scaring people and demanding a feast. These days Kekri season is between Michaelmas and All Saints Day.<\/p>\n

Bonfire night<\/strong><\/span>
\nHalloween is not as popular in UK as it’s in America. On the 5th of November they celebrate Guy Fawkes-day and Bonfire night. I wrote about that last year<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
