Kev\u00e4\u00e4n edistyess\u00e4 alkaa takapiha paljastaa salaisuuksiaan. Tiedossa on jo ett\u00e4 seinustalla elelee jonkinlainen korkea lilja, kurjenmiekka eli iiris (toivon ett\u00e4 kukkii sinivioletti-keltaisin kukin sill\u00e4 se on lempparini!)<\/strong><\/span> ja id\u00e4nsinililja. T\u00e4m\u00e4n lis\u00e4ksi seinustalle on ilmaantunut pieni\u00e4 alkuja, jotka on Facebookin puutarharyhm\u00e4ss\u00e4 tunnistettu enemm\u00e4n tai v\u00e4hemm\u00e4n varmasti unikoksi (mahdollisesti id\u00e4nunikko)<\/strong><\/span>, peurankelloksi, lemmikiksi ja kuunliljaksi. Kuunliljaa olen toivonutkin t\u00e4h\u00e4n pihaan, joten mahtavaa. Peurankellojen ja lemmikin (1 ainoa, todenn\u00e4k\u00f6isesti pihan ulkopuolelta\u00a0ilmaantunut siemen, levi\u00e4\u00e4 kuulemma hulluna)<\/strong><\/span> kohtaloa mietiskelen t\u00e4m\u00e4n kes\u00e4n. Katsotaan syksyll\u00e4 kukkapenkin sokkelista irrotuksen yhteydess\u00e4 mik\u00e4 niiden lopullinen kohtalo tulee olemaan. Yhden paakun kurjenmiekkaa jo siirsin kauemmas\u00a0sokkelista kun oli niin kiinni betonissa ett\u00e4 lehdet tuppasivat verhouslautojen v\u00e4liin.<\/p>\n

Naapurin viereisell\u00e4 aidanseinustalla on tunnistettu jo aiemmin maahumala (jota on jo nyt jokapaikassa)<\/strong><\/span> ja nyt uusimpana akilleija, joita on yksi kappale. Akilleija ehk\u00e4 pit\u00e4\u00e4 siirt\u00e4\u00e4 koska kasvaa l\u00e4hes aidan alla, vaikka se kuulemma ei yht\u00e4\u00e4n tykk\u00e4\u00e4 siirt\u00e4misest\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi \u00e4itini tunnisti t\u00e4n\u00e4\u00e4n pihak\u00e4enkaalin joka pukkaa tulemaan liljan vierest\u00e4. Kyselin naapurin vanhalta rouvalta muistaako h\u00e4n, mik\u00e4 puska on kasvanut aidan vieress\u00e4 (kanto j\u00e4ljell\u00e4)<\/strong><\/span> ja h\u00e4n kertoi sen olleen kuivakka sireeni. Elonmerkkej\u00e4 kannossa ei n\u00e4y, mutta v\u00e4h\u00e4n matkan p\u00e4\u00e4ss\u00e4 on noin puolen metrin korkuinen verso jonka ep\u00e4ilen olevan sireeni\u00e4. T\u00e4h\u00e4n naapurin puoleisen aidan viereen olen perustanut lavakauluksen. L\u00e4hdet\u00e4\u00e4n nyt varovasti yhdell\u00e4 porrastetulla ja katsotaan sitten ensi kev\u00e4\u00e4n\u00e4 riitt\u00e4\u00e4k\u00f6 into kahteen. Lavakauluksen viereen olen jo ehtinyt\u00a0tuupata kaverilta saadun\u00a0raparperin (h\u00e4n halusi omastaan eroon)<\/strong><\/span>. Lis\u00e4ksi h\u00e4n halusi ehdottomasti antaa minulle toisen mustaherukkapensaistaan. Nurmikkokin tuli vihdoin leikatuksi ja piha alkaa n\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 ihan j\u00e4rjelliselt\u00e4, viidakon sijaan.<\/p>\n

Pihan per\u00e4ll\u00e4 olevassa penkiss\u00e4 ei n\u00e4y vuorenkilven ja mysteerikasvin lis\u00e4ksi muita elonmerkkej\u00e4 (paitsi rikkaruohoja, kuten r\u00f6nsyleinikki)<\/strong><\/span>. Naapurin rouva ei osannut sanoa mik\u00e4 puu vuorenkilven alla oleva kanto mahtaa olla, mutta\u00a0my\u00f6hemmin\u00a0h\u00e4n muisteli, ett\u00e4 se on mahdollisesti vaahtera<\/span>. Juuret ainakin ovat varsin mojovat sill\u00e4 niit\u00e4 pullistelee sek\u00e4 kukkapenkiss\u00e4, ett\u00e4 sen ulkopuolella maan pinnassa. Naapurin rouva kertoi my\u00f6s ett\u00e4 h\u00e4n inhoaa edellisen asukkaan istuttamaa, aidan jatkeena olevaa pensasta koska se levi\u00e4\u00e4 mahdottomasti. Sit\u00e4 on kuulemma jo yritetty h\u00e4vitt\u00e4\u00e4 aiemmin. Edistynein veikkaus puskan identiteetist\u00e4 on joku pajuangervo. Juuret ainakin ulottuvat laajalle alueelle.<\/p>\n

Pihan uusimmat tulokkaat ovat siis\u00a0mustaherukkapensas, raparperi ja kotkansiipisaniaiset\u00a0jotka olen saanut anteliailta ihanilta yst\u00e4vilt\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi olen ehtinyt kylv\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n lavakaulukseen jo salaattia ja palsternakkaa. Veneen muotoiseen pajupurkkiin hain l\u00e4hikaupan tarjouksesta v\u00e4h\u00e4n kulahtaneen n\u00e4k\u00f6isi\u00e4 orvokkeja. Nyt yrit\u00e4n kastella istutettuja tulokkaita ja varjella kylv\u00f6ksi\u00e4 ja orvokkeja pakkaselta kateharsoin. Eilen\u00a0t\u00f6kk\u00e4sin multaan kuusi kappaletta gladioluksia. Pit\u00e4k\u00e4\u00e4 peukkuja, ett\u00e4 kaikki uudet tulokkaat pysyv\u00e4t hengiss\u00e4. Lis\u00e4ksi bongasin eilen\u00a0ensimm\u00e4iset el\u00e4v\u00e4t lehtokotilot, nelj\u00e4 kappaletta. Niiden ei tarvitse pysy\u00e4 hengiss\u00e4. Ilokseni kuulinkin ett\u00e4 ainakin pihalla ahkerasti vierailevat mustarastaat ja varislinnut niit\u00e4 jo ovat oppineet popsimaan hyv\u00e4ll\u00e4 halulla. Ker\u00e4\u00e4n tietysti pois kaikki joihin t\u00f6rm\u00e4\u00e4n itse.<\/p>\n

N\u00e4iden lis\u00e4ksi pihasta l\u00f6ytyy toki perinteiset nokkonen ja voikukka. My\u00f6s puutarhaharrastajien rikkaruohoksi luokittelema amerikanhorsma tuntuu viihtyv\u00e4n. Kitkemist\u00e4 on siis tiedossa. Puutarharyhm\u00e4n keskusteluja nyt hetken seuranneena olen my\u00f6s v\u00e4h\u00e4n kauhuissani. Ihmisten r\u00f6yhkeydell\u00e4 ei nimitt\u00e4in tunnu en\u00e4\u00e4 olevan rajoja. Useat ovat ymp\u00e4ri Suomen raportoineet miten ovat aamulla saaneet todeta, ett\u00e4 joku pitk\u00e4kyntinen on y\u00f6n aikana k\u00e4ynyt tyhjent\u00e4m\u00e4ss\u00e4 puutarhapenkkej\u00e4. Ja nyt en puhu siit\u00e4 miten esim myyr\u00e4t k\u00e4yv\u00e4t sy\u00f6m\u00e4ss\u00e4 ja siirtelev\u00e4t sipuleita kukkapenkeiss\u00e4, vaan ett\u00e4 ihan todella joku tyyppi on y\u00f6ll\u00e4 tullut lapion kera ja vienyt puutarhasta kottik\u00e4rryllisen tavaraa. Pihamme ei n\u00e4y tielle, mutta riski on ilmeisesti silti ihan todellinen. Pit\u00e4\u00e4k\u00f6 hommata riistakamera takapihalle? Varmuuden vuoksi.<\/p>\n

As the Spring goes on, our new backyard starts to reveal the secrets. We already know there is some sort of tall\u00a0lily, iris (I’m hoping for the blueish purple and yellow\u00a0version, because that’s my favourite)<\/strong><\/span> and scilla are growing on the flower bed next to the wall. There is now new small plants which have been identified as poppy, forget-me-not, campanula and plantain lily. I have been hoping to get plantain lily, so that is awesome! The final plan for campanula and forget-me-not (just one, possibly came outside the yard)<\/strong> <\/span>will be decided during this summer (forget-me-not spreads like mad)<\/strong><\/span>. I will have to move the flower bed further away from the wall anyway, so I might get rid of some flowers when I do that in the Autumn. I already had to move one lump of iris, because leafs were growing behind the wall boards.<\/p>\n

Previously identified ground ivy (it gets everywhere)<\/strong><\/span> grows next to the neighbour side fence. Newest addition to that side of the yard is one aquilegia. I might have to move that too, because it’s practically growing under the fence, allthough I have been told it doesn’t really like to be moved. My mum also identified one plant as Oxalis Fontana. That grows next to the lilies. I asked from our neighbour, the dizzy old lady, if she remembers what bush has been next to the fence (just stump left)<\/strong><\/span>. She told me it was lilac but very dry and poorly. There is no sign of life on the stump, but there is sprout growing nearby, which I assume is lilac. Next to fence I have made my vegetable garden. Have to start small, with just one tiered pallet box. I don’t want to overwhelm myself with all the work, but if everything goes well, I might get another one next Spring. Next to the pallet box I already\u00a0planted\u00a0rhubarb, which my friend gave\u00a0(she wanted to get rid of her’s)<\/strong><\/span>. She also insisted on giving me one of her black currant bushes. Even the lawn is now decent and garden is starting to look garden instead of jungle.<\/p>\n

Flower bed at the end of the yard doesn’t seem to have anything else than mysterious plant and bergenia at the moment. Neighbour didn’t know what tree used to grow there, but later on she remembered it might have been maple tree. Atleast it’s got massive roots, they are bulging out of the ground here and there, even outside the flower bed. Neighbour also told me that she hates the bush at the end of our fence. Apparently they have already tried to get rid of it but it spreads like mad. It also has very long roots that go everywhere. Most educated guess now is some sort of filipendula.<\/p>\n

So the newest additions to the garden are blackcurrant, rhubarb and ostrich fern. I got these from my lovely generous friends. I have also seeded\u00a0some lettuce and parsnips. I also got some cheap, wornout pansies from local store. Now I just try to water the planted stuff and cover the seeds for the night, so that they don’t freeze. Yesterday I planted six gladiolus. Keep your fingers crossed they will stay alive. I also found first four living Arianta arbustorum snails yesterday. They don’t have to stay alive. Thank goodness we got loads of blackbirds and magpies to eat them from our yard. And I collect all I can find myself.<\/p>\n

Of course there is also the usual weeds like stinging nettle and dandelion growing here. Gardeners pet peeve American willowherb, seems also enjoy their stay. So there will be lots of weeding to do. I have also followed horrified the conversation in one of the facebook gardening group. There doesn’t seem to be any limits to people’s outrageousness. Many people around the country have reported that in the morning they have found their garden full of potholes. I’m not talking about moles or other animals destroying the garden. I am talking about actual human beings stealing plants from people’s gardens, sneaking in at night with a shovel and wheelbarrow. Our yard is not visible to the road, but I suppose the risk is still there. Should\u00a0we get\u00a0remote camera to our yard just in case?<\/p>\n
