Minulla on surullisia uutisia, rakas yst\u00e4v\u00e4ni. Tilanne t\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 rakkaassa Ranskassamme on k\u00e4\u00e4ntynyt kammottavaksi, enk\u00e4 tied\u00e4 tavoittaako t\u00e4m\u00e4 viesti sinua ennen kuin on my\u00f6h\u00e4ist\u00e4. Min\u00e4 ja muutama yst\u00e4v\u00e4ni olemme onnistuneet piilottelemaan nationalisteilta jo hyv\u00e4n tovin. Olemme kulkeneet julkisilla paikoilla vain v\u00e4h\u00e4n, k\u00e4ytt\u00e4neet valeasuja ja jopa h\u00e4p\u00e4isseet syntyper\u00e4mme pukeutumalla vallankumouksen v\u00e4reihin pelastaaksemme kaulamme. Teloitukset ovat nyky\u00e4\u00e4n l\u00e4hes jokap\u00e4iv\u00e4isi\u00e4 ja kaduilla liikkuminen on muutenkin vaarallista. Pelk\u00e4\u00e4n ett\u00e4 joudumme pian pakenemaan maasta.<\/em><\/p>\n

Lienet\u00a0jo saanut tiedon kuninkaamme tammikuisesta kuolemasta. Eilen jouduimme todistamaan miten suloinen kuningattaremme Marie Antoinette sai kohdata Madame la Guillotinen kuolettavan suudelman. Teloitus oli kammottava, mutta Marie pysytteli arvokkaana loppuun saakka. Huvittelimme leikkaamalla\u00a0siluetteja ja pelaamalla Cuccu’a<\/a>. Pikkugiljotiinilla katkoimme p\u00e4\u00e4t porkkanoilta. Ruokap\u00f6yd\u00e4ss\u00e4 kaikki ruuat olivat teeman mukaisesti mustia tai punaisia. Emme kuitenkaan tarjoilleet ruokia ruumisarkun kannelta, vaikka sekin on kuulemma suosittua rojalistien juhlissa. Muutamat yst\u00e4vist\u00e4ni olivat sitoneet kaulaansa punaisen nauhan, symboloimaan sit\u00e4 ett\u00e4 he olivat toistaiseksi pelastuneet giljotiinilta.\u00a0Lopuksi tanssimme kuin jokainen tanssi olisi viimeisemme.<\/em><\/p>\n

Niin rakas yst\u00e4v\u00e4ni, el\u00e4mme kauhujen p\u00e4ivi\u00e4. Toivon ett\u00e4 el\u00e4m\u00e4ni lanka ei katkea Madame Giljotiinin syleilyss\u00e4, vaan ett\u00e4 voimme viel\u00e4 yhdess\u00e4 kilist\u00e4\u00e4 maljan terveydeksemme.<\/em><\/p>\n

I have sad news, my dear friend. Situation here in our beloved France has turned into horror, and I’m not sure if you receive this message before it is too late. Me and some of my friends have managed to hide from the Nationalists for quite some time now. We haven’t gone out to the public very much, we have used disguise and even disgraced our blood and heritage by wearing the colours of revolution, to save our necks. Executions are now almost daily and going outside\u00a0is very dangerous. I’m afraid we might have to flee the country soon.<\/em><\/p>\n

I assume you have, by now, received the news about the death of our King in January. Yesterday we were forced to witness how our sweet Queen Marie Antoinette had to encounter the deadly kiss of Madame la Guillotine. Execution was horrible, but Marie stayed graceful and dignified till the end. In the evening me and my other Royalist friends arranged mock funeral party, to\u00a0honour the courage of our King and Queen and celebrated the fact we are still alive.<\/em><\/p>\n

We amused ourselves by cutting silhouettes and by playing Cuckoo<\/a>. With the little guillotine we chopped the heads of carrots. Every food at the table was either black or\u00a0red, according to the theme. However we didn’t serve the food from the top of a coffin, even though it seems quite popular these days at Royalist parties. Some of my friends were wearing red ribbon on their necks, to symbolise the fact they have been safe from the guillotine, atleast for now. Finally we danced like every dance was our last.<\/em><\/p>\n

Yes my dear friend, we are living horrid times. I hope that the thread of my life is not cut by the embrace of Madame la Guillotine, but we can once more raise glasses together for our health.<\/em><\/p>\n
