Polkaistaanpas joulukalenteri kunnolla k\u00e4yntiin postauksella, joka on odottanut tulemistaan l\u00e4hes vuoden verran. Viime tammikuussa L’Amusettell\u00e4 oli talvisempi p\u00e4iv\u00e4tapahtuma, johon en jaksanut askarrella kokonaista pukua joten tyydyin tuunaamaan vanhaa.<\/p>\n

Puku on sellaisenaan aika juhlava joten ajattelin arkistaa sit\u00e4 tekem\u00e4ll\u00e4 empiretyyliss\u00e4 hyvin tyypillisen chemisetten, eli er\u00e4\u00e4nlaisen irtomiehustan. Malliltaan hihaton chemisette on tosi yksinkertainen: edess\u00e4 kaksi suorakaidetta ja takana kolmiomaisempi pala joihin kaarretaan p\u00e4\u00e4ntie ja ommellaan olkasaumat. Helmaan ja p\u00e4\u00e4ntielle ommellaan solmimisnauhat ja p\u00e4\u00e4ntielle voi lis\u00e4ksi viel\u00e4 lis\u00e4t\u00e4 rypytetyn tai laskostetun r\u00f6yhel\u00f6n.\u00a0L\u00f6ysin aiemmin viime syksyn\u00e4 kangastukusta puuvillaorgandia, joka sopii chemisetteen hyvin. Puuvillaorgandi on kuin organzaa, ohutta, harvahkoa mutta j\u00e4ykk\u00e4\u00e4 ja samalla aika l\u00e4pikuultavaa.<\/p>\n

Halusin kauluksesta aika n\u00e4ytt\u00e4v\u00e4n joten tein siihen tuplar\u00f6yhel\u00f6n pikkulaskoksin. Laskostuksen tein ihan silm\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4isesti ja k\u00e4sivaralta, ilman mittanauhaa. Ty\u00f6n\u00e4 pikkuruinen chemisette oli sen verran kevyempi kokonaisiin isoihin pukuihin verrattuna ett\u00e4 ompelin l\u00e4hes koko h\u00f6sk\u00e4n k\u00e4sin telkkaria katsellessa. Ainoa ik\u00e4v\u00e4 puoli chemisettess\u00e4 on sen pesu. Silloin laskokset avautuvat ja ne pit\u00e4\u00e4 pliseerata uudestaan. Mutta ei h\u00e4t\u00e4\u00e4, t\u00e4m\u00e4 hoituu helposti niin ett\u00e4 ennen pesua kaikki laskokset harsitaan kiinni useammalla poikittain kulkevalla harsinpistorivill\u00e4. N\u00e4in ne pysyv\u00e4t tarkasti paikoillaan my\u00f6s pesun aikana ja ne on helpompi silitt\u00e4\u00e4 pesun j\u00e4lkeen muotoonsa.<\/p>\n

Let’s kick the Christmas calendar properly going with a post, due almost year ago. Last January L’Amusette re-enactment group had a winterly daytime event. I didn’t have time to make a completely new outfit, so I decided to pimp my old Regency gown.<\/p>\n

It is quite fancy as it is, so I wanted to tone it down somehow. Regency style gave the obvious way to do it with chemisette, which was quite typical garment at that era. Chemisette is sort of sleeveless bodice under the dress. It is formed by two rectangulars in front and one slightly more triangular piece at the back. These are sewn together on the shoulders. Just add ribbons on the hem and neckline and make a pleated ruffle collar and it’s done. Easy peasy. Earlier last Autumn I found cotton organdy from local fabric wholesale. It works perfect on chemisette. Cotton organdy is like organza, thin but stiff and also quite seethrough.<\/p>\n

I wanted to make the chemisette quite elaborate, so I added double ruffle on the neckline. I pleated it by hand, without tape measure. Chemisette was so much easier to work with, instead of large gowns, that I sewed it almost completely by hand, while watching tv. Only annoying thing is to wash it. Pleats will open in the wash and then they need re-pleating. But not to worry, this is easier to do if you temporarily stitch all pleats together for the wash. Couple hand stitch seams will keep pleats in place and makes it easier to iron afterwards.<\/p>\n
