Vintageharrastajat ker\u00e4ilev\u00e4t usein my\u00f6s pukukoruja. Itse en varsinaisesti ker\u00e4ile, mutta niit\u00e4 jostain syyst\u00e4 on kertynyt aika kasa. Kovemman luokan ker\u00e4ilij\u00e4t valikoivat korunsa tarkkaan, jopa niin ett\u00e4 saattavat ker\u00e4ill\u00e4 pelk\u00e4st\u00e4\u00e4n tietyn valmistajan tai tietyst\u00e4 materiaalista valmistettuja koruja. Itse en ole niin turhan tarkka vaan olen ostanut jos olen l\u00f6yt\u00e4nyt edullisesti sellaisen joka miellytt\u00e4\u00e4 omaa silm\u00e4\u00e4. Usein my\u00f6s tiettyjen valmistajien koruilla hinnat kohoavat sen verran ett\u00e4 ne j\u00e4\u00e4v\u00e4t itselt\u00e4ni siksi ostamatta.<\/p>\n

Kes\u00e4ll\u00e4 kirppikselt\u00e4 tarttui ensimm\u00e4ist\u00e4 kertaa mukaan rintakoru, josta l\u00f6ytyi tarkemmalla tutkimisella valmistajan leima. “Hollywood”-merkkisi\u00e4 koruja valmisti Bloxidge Brothers Birminghamissa, Englannissa noin 1917-1972 v\u00e4lisen\u00e4 aikana. Tarkkaan ei kuitenkaan ole tiedossa oliko heid\u00e4n valmistamissaan koruissa leimat jo ennen 50-lukua. Hollywood-merkki sekoitetaan toisinaan kahteen muuhun valmistajaan. Joseff of Hollywood ja Hollycraft ovat kumpainenkin amerikkalaisia valmistajia. Korujen ajoittaminen on usein vaikeaa ja ty\u00f6l\u00e4st\u00e4. Se vaatii pitk\u00e4llist\u00e4 perehtymist\u00e4 eri vuosikymmenten korutyyleihin, valmistustapoihin, -materiaaleihin ja kiinnitysmekanismeihin. Vain hyvin harvoin on pukukoruista mahdollista m\u00e4\u00e4ritt\u00e4\u00e4 aivan tarkka vuosi. Joistakin suosituimmista valmistajista l\u00f6ytyy netist\u00e4 runsaasti tietoa, kun taas toisista ei juuri mit\u00e4\u00e4n.\u00a0Itse olen korujen ajoittamisessa todella surkea. Arvelen ett\u00e4 t\u00e4m\u00e4 koru voisi olla 60-lukuinen.<\/p>\n

Vintage lovers often collect also costume jewelry. I don’t admit collecting, but for one reason or another, I have managed to gather quite a large collection. Hard core collectors often choose very carefully what they collect, sometimes only jewelry from specific manufacturer or made from specific material. I’m not that picky. I have bought when ever I have found something that I like with affordable price. Quite often wellknown manufacturers prices can get rather high, so I will leave them out of my shopping bag.<\/p>\n

Last summer I managed to find a brooch which actually had manufacturers label on it. “Hollywood”-jewelry was made by Bloxidge brothers in Birmingham, England, around 1917-1972. It is not confirmed if they labelled their products already before 50’s. Hollywood-label is often mixed with two other companies. Joseff of Hollywood and Hollycraft are both American manufacturers. Timing vintage jewelry is often very difficult. It requires lots of time to learn the typical styles, manufacturing methods and other details for each decade. Only very rarely it is possible to find specific year when something was made. Sometimes if manufacturer is famous there is loads of information available on the internet. Sometimes not so much. I am rather poorly on estimating the age of jewelry. I assume this might be from the 60’s.<\/p>\n
