Olen tuunannut joskus blogin alkuaikoina yhden py\u00f6rill\u00e4 kulkevan lipaston tapetilla<\/a>. \nDC-fix kalvoa tai muuta vastaavaa kontaktimuovia
\nuudet vetimet jotka sopivat vanhoihin reikiin ja niihin sopivat ruuvit
\nmattopuukko
\nsakset<\/p>\n

1. Irrota vanhat vetimet ja mittaa tarvittavan kalvon koko. On helpointa liimata kaikkiin saman lipaston laatikoihin kerralla, silloin tarvitsee kohdistaa reuna vain kerran ja samalla saat kuvion jatkumaan hienosti. Leikkaan v\u00e4h\u00e4n reilu pala ettei j\u00e4\u00e4 vajaaksi.
\n2. Anna laatikkojen olla paikoillaan lipastossa. Irrota kalvon taustapaperia jommasta kummasta reunasta muutamien senttien matkalta koko pituudeltaan ja t\u00e4sm\u00e4\u00e4 kalvon reuna laatikoiden reunan kanssa. Paina kalvo paikoilleen ja tasoita.
\n3. Ved\u00e4 taustapaperia molemmin k\u00e4sin v\u00e4h\u00e4n kerrassaan irti ja siloita samalla kalvoa paikoilleen keskelt\u00e4 kohti reunoja. Jos j\u00e4\u00e4 ilmakuplia, irrota kalvoa v\u00e4h\u00e4n matkaa kunnes kupla on poistunut ja siloita uudelleen paikoilleen.
\n4. Toista kohtaa kolme kunnes koko kalvo on paikoillaan kuplattomasti. DC-fix on onneksi paksumpaa kuin tavallinen kontaktimuovi joten sen liimaaminen on paljon helpompaa kuin kirjojen p\u00e4\u00e4lyst\u00e4minen.
\n5. Nyt tulee vaikein kohta. Ota mattopuukko ja leikkaa ylim\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4iset reunat kalvosta pois. T\u00e4m\u00e4 vaatii eritt\u00e4in ter\u00e4v\u00e4n puukon, jotta leikkausj\u00e4ljest\u00e4 tulee siisti. Saksilla et p\u00e4\u00e4se aivan yht\u00e4 l\u00e4helle reunaa. Voit leikatessa tukea veitsen ter\u00e4\u00e4 lipaston reunaa vasten jolloin leikkuuj\u00e4ljest\u00e4 tulee tasaisempi.

I have revamped old drawer<\/a> before in the early times of my blog. I used wallpaper then. But things develop and now we don’t even need wallpaper paste for doing that. Just some sticky plastic. We bought these cheap drawer to our old apartment when we needed more storing space quickly and there was no room for anything large in our hallway. Both drawers are still in pretty good shape, despite of their cheap price, we just have grown bored with their look. So, during our moving I started thinking, we could still use them, just revamp them a bit. That way we don’t have to get rid of perfectly working furniture, just because we don’t like it. So here we go. I apologize the yellow or redish hue on my recent photos. As you know, in Finland the daylight is a luxury right now.<\/p>\n

You need<\/strong><\/span>
\nDC-fix sticky plastic, or other similar brand
\nnew handles with screws, check for correct width for screw holes
\ncraft knife
\nscissors<\/p>\n

1. Screw off the old handles and measure the size of the sticky plastic. It is easiest to glue it in one go for all drawers. Then you only have to adjust the edge once and you can get the pattern continue nicely on the next. Cut a bit larger piece of the plastic so there is no gaps anywhere.
\n2. Leave the drawers on the frame. Peel backside paper off of the sticky plastic from one edge, just a narrow strip at a time. Match the edge with the drawer edges and glue on.
\n3. Pull backside paper off with both hands, a small distance at the time. Press sticky plastic on the drawers surface and smooth from the center towards edges. If any air bubbles appear, pull plastic off, until air bubbles come off and smooth again.
\n4. Repeat until whole drawer is done. It’s easier to apply DC-fix than ordinary sticky plastic for books, because it’s thicker.
\n5. Now this is the most difficult part. Take your craft knife and cut excess plastic off around the edges. This requires very sharp knife, so that edges look smooth and neat. You can’t get as close with scissors. Balance your knife’s blade against the drawer edge to get straight cutting line.
\n6. Then you only have the new handles to screw on. In my case, we had to buy new screws for the new handles too.
\n7. Admire the work of your hands (never forget this part!)<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
