Nykyisen asuntomme keitti\u00f6 on yksi iso (pieni)<\/strong><\/span> murheenkryyni. Ty\u00f6tasoja on kolmella sein\u00e4ll\u00e4 ja kun itse keitti\u00f6 (tai avokeitti\u00f6, miksi tuota nyt haluaa kutsua)<\/strong><\/span> on varsin kapea, on kahden ihmisen ty\u00f6skentely keitti\u00f6ss\u00e4 l\u00e4hes\u00a0mahdottomuus. Jos toinen kumartuu ottamaan uunista jotakin, joutuu ty\u00f6tason \u00e4\u00e4ress\u00e4 ty\u00f6skentelev\u00e4 v\u00e4ist\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n. Tai jos esim kaataa perunankeittoveden viem\u00e4riin, joutuu astumaan keitti\u00f6n toiselta laidalta toiselle, jolloin muut keitti\u00f6ss\u00e4 ty\u00f6skentelev\u00e4t ovat vaaravy\u00f6hykkeess\u00e4.<\/p>\n

Mutta ei se ep\u00e4k\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6llisyys siihen p\u00e4\u00e4ty. Tarkistellaampa valaistusta. Keitti\u00f6ss\u00e4 on ikkuna joka on sijoitettu ison ty\u00f6tason yl\u00e4puolelle. Ikkuna on pieni ja ylh\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4, joten siit\u00e4 saatava valon m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4kin on aika pieni. K\u00e4yt\u00e4nn\u00f6ss\u00e4 se valaisee l\u00e4hinn\u00e4 ty\u00f6tason \u00e4\u00e4rell\u00e4 seisovan naamaa. Lis\u00e4ksi ikkuna antaa suoraan rappuk\u00e4yt\u00e4v\u00e4\u00e4n. Kyll\u00e4, luit oikein. Ikkunan ohi kulkevat naapurit, joten voitte arvata, ett\u00e4 kaihtimet ovat p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa suljettuna. Luonnonvalon m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 keitti\u00f6ss\u00e4 on siis minimaalinen, ja kun Suomessa ollaan niin se aika kun luonnonvaloa on edes tarjolla on varsin rajallinen. Sit\u00e4 luulisi ett\u00e4 ty\u00f6tason p\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4 olisi valo. Vaan kun ei ole. Keitti\u00f6n lamput ovat tiskialtaan ja hellan p\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4, eli ikkunallisen ty\u00f6tason molemmin puolin. N\u00e4m\u00e4 eiv\u00e4t valaise ty\u00f6tasoa. Keitti\u00f6ss\u00e4 on toki kattovalo, joka on keskell\u00e4 keitti\u00f6t\u00e4, ty\u00f6tason \u00e4\u00e4ress\u00e4 ty\u00f6skentelev\u00e4n sel\u00e4n takana. N\u00e4in ollen p\u00e4\u00e4asiassa k\u00e4ytett\u00e4v\u00e4 ty\u00f6taso j\u00e4\u00e4 AINA varjoon vaikka kaikki asunnon valot olisivat p\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4. Mist\u00e4 tulee t\u00e4m\u00e4 ajatus ett\u00e4 keitti\u00f6ss\u00e4 ei tarvita valoa? Tai kunnollisia ikkunoita?<\/p>\n

Bonuksena keitti\u00f6ss\u00e4 on hieno ja trendik\u00e4s py\u00f6rill\u00e4 liikuteltava lis\u00e4taso jossa on vetolaatikoita. Sen paikka on tiskialtaan alla, siin\u00e4 mihin tiskikone tulee. Jos siis sattuu olemaan tiskikone (kuten l\u00e4hes kaikilla nyky\u00e4\u00e4n on)<\/strong><\/span>, t\u00e4m\u00e4 hieno lis\u00e4s\u00e4ilytystila ja -p\u00f6yt\u00e4taso pit\u00e4\u00e4 roudata kellariin, koska muuten k\u00e4mp\u00e4ss\u00e4 ei ole tilaa ruokap\u00f6yd\u00e4lle.\u00a0Way to go, sisustusarkkitehti! Onneksi uuden kotimme keitti\u00f6 on v\u00e4h\u00e4n j\u00e4rkev\u00e4mpi. Se on saman muotoinen mutta siell\u00e4 hella ja tiskiallas ovat vierekk\u00e4in, kaappitilaa on enemm\u00e4n, p\u00f6yt\u00e4tasoja on enemm\u00e4n ja isoimman ty\u00f6tason edess\u00e4 on suuri ikkuna.<\/p>\n

Pardon my french, but what is wrong with the interior architects (or is decorator the correct translation?)<\/strong><\/span>? I mean those people who design the kitchens for (rental)<\/strong><\/span> flats (I assume they are interior architects, but correct me if I’m wrong)<\/strong><\/span>. The kitchen in our current apartment is just one big (small)<\/strong><\/span> mess. There are counters on three walls. The kitchen (open kitchen plan)<\/strong><\/span> is very narrow, so two people working in the kitchen is almost impossible. If one bends down to take something out of the oven, the person working by the counter must move. Or if you want to pour the boiling water to the sink, the other person in the kitchen must get out of the way, otherwise there might be collision.<\/p>\n

But that’s not all. Let’s have a look at the lighting. There is window in the kitchen. It is above the biggest\u00a0counter. It is quite small and rather high, so not much light coming in. Basically it only allows\u00a0light on persons face. Also the window opens directly to the hallway. Yes, you read correctly. Our neighbours walk past the window every single day, so you can guess that kitchen\u00a0blinds are most of the time closed. So no natural light in the kitchen. And here in Finland the season for proper natural light is very limited. You would think there is light above the counter. But no there isn’t. Lamps are above sink and stove, so on each side of the big counter. Not enough light coming from them. Ceiling lamp in the kitchen is in the middle, so when you stand by the counter, light is behind you and your own shadow is cast over what ever you are doing. Where does this idea that no proper light is needed comes from? Nor proper windows?<\/p>\n

As a bonus this kitchen has modern and trendy extra work space with drawers, on wheels. It is supposed to be under the sink, where the dish washer goes. So if you have dish washer (like most people do these days)<\/strong><\/span>, this fancy drawer on wheels needs to go to the storage space. If you don’t want to live without dining table, that is. Way to go interior architect! Thankfully kitchen in our new bungalow is slightly better. Same shape, but sink and stove are next to each other, there is more cupboards, more counters and larger window infront of the large work surface.<\/p>\n
