Tein t\u00e4ss\u00e4 iltapuhteina v\u00e4h\u00e4n erilaisen tuunaushommelin. Mulla on py\u00f6rinyt nurkissa parisen vuotta nypl\u00e4ystyyny, jonka l\u00f6ysin kerran kirppikselt\u00e4 kaikkine tarvikkeineen eritt\u00e4in halvalla. Tyyny oli p\u00e4\u00e4llystetty tuollaisella ruudullisella kernill\u00e4 joka oli jo jonkin verran kulunut, vaikkakin viel\u00e4 ihan ehj\u00e4. Aikomuksenani on opetella nypl\u00e4\u00e4m\u00e4\u00e4n (ett\u00e4 voin itse tehd\u00e4 pitsej\u00e4 1700-luvun asuihini, heh heh… n\u00e4kisp\u00e4 vaan!)<\/strong><\/span> ja koska nypl\u00e4ys voisi olla my\u00f6s hyv\u00e4\u00e4 ajanvietett\u00e4 1700-luvun tapahtumissa niin ajattelin p\u00e4\u00e4llyst\u00e4\u00e4 nypl\u00e4ystyynyn hieman enemm\u00e4n periodiin sopivalla kankaalla.<\/p>\n

Olin noukkinut ostoskoriin jostain kirppikselt\u00e4 palan tuollaista vanhaa patjakangasta jolla ajattelin korvata kernin. Aloin irrottaa kernin kiinnitt\u00e4vi\u00e4 nauloja, mutta alta paljastuikin pelkk\u00e4 hein\u00e4t\u00e4yte, joten piti vaihtaa taktiikkaa. Hein\u00e4t olisivat tulleet patjakankaasta l\u00e4pi eik\u00e4 minulla ollut k\u00e4sill\u00e4 tiivist\u00e4 kangasta jonka olisin voinut k\u00e4ytt\u00e4\u00e4 pohjakankaana. Niinp\u00e4 sitten p\u00e4\u00e4tin vain vet\u00e4\u00e4 patjakankaan suoraan kernin p\u00e4\u00e4lle. Irrottelin naulat v\u00e4h\u00e4n kerrassaan ja naulasin takaisin pingottaen samalla patjakangasta kernin p\u00e4\u00e4lle. Hidasta hommaa jossa sormet joutuvat koville, mutta lopputulos oli kyll\u00e4 kaiken vaivan v\u00e4\u00e4rti. Eih\u00e4n tuo patjakangaskaan nyt ihan t\u00e4ysin 1700-lukuinen ole, mutta on se ainakin l\u00e4hemp\u00e4n\u00e4 totuutta kuin kerni. P\u00e4\u00e4sisink\u00f6h\u00e4n opettelemaan nypl\u00e4yst\u00e4 jo Isokyr\u00f6ss\u00e4?<\/p>\n

I made a little revamp, a bit different\u00a0kind. I’ve had this bobbin lace pillow for couple years now. I found it from a flea market with all the bits and bobs with quite affordable price. It was covered with quite horrible plastic table cloth type material which had seen better days. It wasn’t broken though. My goal is to learn to make bobbin lace (so that I can start making my own lace for my 1700’s outfits, heh hee… never happens!)<\/span><\/strong> and because bobbin lace would be perfect pastime for 1700’s events, I decided to cover the pillow with a bit more period accurate material.<\/p>\n

I thrifted\u00a0this mattress fabric quite recently and decided to use that to replace the plastic fabric. I started taking the nails off, but under the plastic was just the hey filling. So I had to change my plan. Hay would have just poked through the mattress fabric, and I didn’t have thicker fabric at hand to use as a lining. So I decided to just cover the plastic fabric with the mattress fabric. I took the nails off one by one and nailed them back on tightening the fabric at the same time over the plastic. Slow and tedious job that made my fingers ache, but definitely worth every minute. The mattress fabric is not 100% accurate for 1700’s, but it’s definitely closer to the truth. I wonder if I’m able to learn the basics of bobbin lace already in Isokyr\u00f6 1700’s fair?<\/p>\n
