Joulu meni, tapansa mukaan hirmu nopeasti. Aattona ajelimme maalle. P\u00e4iv\u00e4 kului perinteisell\u00e4 rutiinilla: ensin p\u00e4iv\u00e4kahvi, sitten saunan l\u00e4mmitys ja ruuan viimeistely\u00e4. \u00c4iti oli pitk\u00e4st\u00e4 aikaa hakenut mets\u00e4st\u00e4 kuusen pirttiin. Useana vuonna kuusta ei ole ollut ollenkaan. T\u00e4n\u00e4kin vuonna oli esill\u00e4 perinteinen olkipukkikokoelma, tonttu-kyl\u00e4 ja\u00a0tuikkulyhtytalojen rykelm\u00e4. Saunaan mentiin siin\u00e4 viiden-kuuden aikaan ja sen j\u00e4lkeen oli vuorossa jouluateria. Ruuan j\u00e4lkeen jaettiin lahjat.\u00a0 Aattona oli sent\u00e4\u00e4n pikkuisen pakkasta illalla\u00a0ja komea kuutamo, mutta joulup\u00e4iv\u00e4n aamuna satoi vett\u00e4. Ei hirve\u00e4n jouluista mulle.<\/p>\n

Joulup\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 s\u00f6imme aamupalan ja ajelimme takaisin kaupunkiin laittamaan omaa jouluateriaamme. Ruuan valmistumista odotellessa katsottiin tv:st\u00e4\u00a0kuningattaren puhe ja jaettiin loput lahjat. Taku-kissa tosin oli saanut ylisuuren\u00a0lahjansa (parimetrinen second-hand raapimispuu)<\/strong><\/span> jo pari p\u00e4iv\u00e4\u00e4 ennen aattoa. Is\u00e4nt\u00e4 sai toivomansa blutooth-kuulokkeet puhelimeen,\u00a0Dr Who-trivialpursuitin ja suklaata. Min\u00e4 sain lahjakortin balettikauppaan (\u00c4iti ihmetteli\u00a0ett\u00e4 onko sellaisiakin kauppoja, min\u00e4 vastasin ett\u00e4 joo, siell\u00e4 myyd\u00e4\u00e4n baletteja. \u00c4iti kysyi ett\u00e4 jaa, aiotko ostaa P\u00e4hkin\u00e4ns\u00e4rkij\u00e4n vai Joutsenlammen? Meid\u00e4n perheen huumoria…)<\/span><\/strong>, Singstar-pelin, v\u00e4rityskirjoja ja superpainavan design-kirjan. Yhteiseksi lahjaksi saimme \u00e4idilt\u00e4 petivaatteita, jotka tulevat kyll\u00e4 aina tarpeeseen. Lahjojen avaamisen j\u00e4lkeen ruoka olikin valmista. Loppu ilta sitten vaan sy\u00f6tiin liikaa ja katsottiin t\u00f6ll\u00f6tint\u00e4. Englannissa joulup\u00e4iv\u00e4n\u00e4 tulee perinteisesti monien tv-sarjojen jouluerikoisia. Meid\u00e4n pakollisiin katsottaviin kuuluivat tietysti Dr Who:n ja Downton Abbeyn jouluerikoiset. Kuulostaa aika tyls\u00e4lt\u00e4 n\u00e4in auki kirjoitettuna, mutta meille se oli juuri riitt\u00e4v\u00e4 m\u00e4\u00e4r\u00e4 \u00e4ks\u00f6ni\u00e4.<\/p>\n

Christmas went, really fast as it tends to do. On Christmas Eve we drove to the Country side. Day went past with familiar routine: first we had coffee with mum, then warmed the sauna and finished preparing the food. After several year’s\u00a0break, mum had a proper Christmas tree again. Real tree is a bit of a bother (needles and all)<\/strong><\/span> so we haven’t had it every year. But there has always been the straw goat collection, elf village and group of tea light houses in the hallway. Then we went to sauna around five or six and had the meal afterwards. After a meal it was time to hand out gifts. Weather was atleast little nippy and there was quite pretty almost-full-moon on Christmas Eve. However on Christmas morning it was raining. Not very christmassy for me.<\/p>\n

On Christmas morning we ate breakfast and drove back to town to make our own Christmas meal. While it was cooking, we watched Queen’s speech and handed out rest of the gifts. Even though Taku the cat already got her oversized gift couple days before Christmas Eve (couple meters tall second-hand scratching post)<\/strong><\/span>. Hubby got the blutooth headset he wished for his phone, Dr Who Trivial Pursuit and chocolate. I got gift voucher for ballet shop (Mum was wondering\u00a0if\u00a0that kind of shop really exists, I said yes, they sell ballets. Mum asked am I going to buy Nutcracker or Swan lake? Our family humour…)<\/strong><\/span>, Singstar game, colouring books and super heavy design book. And we both got from mum a set of bed linen, they are always needed. After opening lasts gifts food was ready. Rest of the evening we just ate too much and watched tv. In England it’s quite traditional that many tv series have specially made Christmas Specials. Our mandatory Christmas Specials were of course Dr Who and Downton Abbey. Sounds quite boring time when written down like this, but for us it was just perfect amount of action.<\/p>\n
