Hattuneulat ovat menneisyyden kiehtovia tarve-esineit\u00e4 joille nykyaikaisella ihmisill\u00e4 ei ole mit\u00e4\u00e4n k\u00e4ytt\u00f6\u00e4. Monet niist\u00e4 ovat koristeellisia ja n\u00e4ytt\u00e4vi\u00e4kin mutta niill\u00e4 on ollut my\u00f6s oikea teht\u00e4v\u00e4, pit\u00e4\u00e4 hattu p\u00e4\u00e4ss\u00e4. Hattuneula tai pari, ty\u00f6nnettiin hatun ja kampauksen l\u00e4pi ja n\u00e4in hattu pysyi tukevammin p\u00e4\u00e4ss\u00e4 my\u00f6s tuulisella s\u00e4\u00e4ll\u00e4. 60-luvun j\u00e4lkeen niit\u00e4 ei juurikaan ole n\u00e4kynyt k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4. Niiden kultakausi p\u00e4\u00e4ttyi samaan aikaan kuin hattujenkin.<\/p>\n

Omaan kokoelmaani on kertynyt jo monenn\u00e4k\u00f6isi\u00e4 neuloja. Mit\u00e4 pidempi sen vanhempi. Vanhat pitk\u00e4t neulat eiv\u00e4t v\u00e4ltt\u00e4m\u00e4tt\u00e4 ole kovin koristeellisia mutta ei niiden tarvinnutkaan sill\u00e4 1900-luvun hatut olivat riitt\u00e4v\u00e4n koristeellisia itsess\u00e4\u00e4n. 1900-luvun alun neulat ja monet sit\u00e4 vanhemmat neulat ovat pitki\u00e4 koska kampaukset ja hatut olivat niin muhkeita ett\u00e4 lyhyt neula ei olisi riitt\u00e4nyt. Kuten kaikessa muussakin, n\u00e4idenkin ker\u00e4ilyss\u00e4 sovellan yht\u00e4 s\u00e4\u00e4nt\u00f6\u00e4, ne eiv\u00e4t saa maksaa muutamaa euroa enemp\u00e4\u00e4. Osa on tosin jo v\u00e4h\u00e4n huonossa kunnossa, mutta ne yksil\u00f6t ovatkin sitten vain ihasteltavana vitriiniss\u00e4. Hat pins, the interesting little trinket, important for our ancestors but pretty useless for modern people. Many of them are decorative and rather flamboyant even, but they were also practical. Purpose was to hold the hat on the head. Pin or two were pushed through the hat and hairdo to keep it sturdy even on windy weather. After 60’s there hasn’t been much use for them. Golden age of hat pins ended at the same time than hat’s golden age.<\/p>\n

My collection has several different pins already. Longer the pin, older it is too. Old long pins are not necessary very decorative, but they didn’t have to. Hats in the early 1900’s were quite extravagant. Early 1900’s pins and older pins too, were rather long because hats and hairdo’s were massive. Short pin just wouldn’t have done the job. As in everything else, I only have one rule when collecting hat pins. They can’t cost very much. Some of them are in poor shape, but those ones are only admired thought the glass. Some sturdier pieces I also occasionally use.<\/p>\n

\nAcorns were popular motif especially in 40’s and 50’s. I have seen all sorts<\/strong><\/span><\/em>
\nbrooches, collar pins and other decorations, shaped like acorns. <\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
