Siit\u00e4 on jo useampi vuosi kun is\u00e4nn\u00e4n kanssa aloimme koota tuollaista aurinkokuntamallia. Olen blogissakin siit\u00e4 joskus kirjoittanut<\/a>. Se on laite jossa planeetat kiert\u00e4v\u00e4t aurinkoa mekaanisen koneiston avulla. T\u00e4htitieteilij\u00e4t voivat sellaisen avulla tutkia planeettojen asentoja paitsi nykyhetkess\u00e4, niin my\u00f6s miss\u00e4 tahansa menneisyydess\u00e4 tai tulevaisuudessa. Osien ker\u00e4\u00e4minen kesti reilu parisen vuotta ja sen j\u00e4lkeen aurinkokuntamalli on seissyt kotimme paraatipaikalla. Emmek\u00e4 ole kertaakaan kokeilleet toimiiko se.<\/p>\n

Aurinkokuntamallien historia ulottuu pitk\u00e4lle ennen ajanlaskumme alkua, mutta tarkkoja malleja on pystytty rakentamaan vasta 1700-luvulta l\u00e4htien. It’s been several years since me and hubby started putting together a solar system model. I have mentioned it in the blog<\/a> too. It’s a device where planets circulate the sun with the help of a machine. Astronomers can study the positions and movements of planets in any given time in past, present and future. It took over two years to collect all the parts and after that it’s been standing on the best spot at our home. We have never even tried if it actually works.<\/p>\n

The history of solar system models reaches way back, even before our modern chronology of time. However, scientist weren’t able to build accurate solar system models before the 1700’s. Older models were not heliocentric, but the planets and sun were most often rotating the Earth. \u00a0We now \u00a0know that the planets revolve around the sun. This modern model of ours also includes the new added planets, dwarf planets Ceres and Eris. These little fellas didn’t exist on the planetary list when I was studying these things in school.<\/p>\n

Even though I am interested in astronomy, I’m mostly fascinated by the brass cogs and the sleepy circular movements of the solar system. With the parts came numerous magazine, not just about the model, but the solar system and astronomy as a science. Interesting reading. To celebrate the Christmas\u00a0we finally decided to put the solar system\u00a0revolving. And here it goes (after little fixes)<\/strong><\/span>. Just for fun I adjusted the solar system to the future, the beginning of 2060’s when, according to Star Trek, vulcans are supposed to take the first contact with Earth.
