To celebrate my birthday today, I thought I could share you one of my old hobbies, which I haven’t done for years. During my studies in vocational arts and crafts school, I finally managed to get in on photography class, which I had been dreaming for years. Best thing on the course wasn’t actually taking photos, but to develope them in the photo lab. It is quite mystical world of it’s own, which many young modern day photographers don’t really know about. I could have spent hours and hours in the dark room, and I did, trying out all sort of stuff.<\/p>\n There is something very magical when you expose the white paper to the light and perhaps after dozens of try-outs you can finally expose the actual photo, which is completely your creation, in all of it’s aspects. You have taken the photo, \u00a0you have developed the film, chosen the right picture, focused it in the enlargening machine, done your exposure try-outs, perhaps cropped, adjusted the tones, soaked the white exposed paper in the developer and watched the photo appearing slowly, soaked it again in other chemicals, rinsed and finally dried it. Developing a photo in a photo lab yourself is truly handwork. Notice that all photos are black and white, developing colour prints is much more complex thing.<\/p>\n In addition to that actual developing process, it’s possible to do all sorts of other fiddling with it. It can be toned with different chemicals, exposure can be done through all sorts of decorative papers or fabrics or developer can be spread over the photo with brush to create some sort of splash effect. I was able to try these techniques on another course later on. It was very interesting. Unfortunately best results of these courses are framed on the wall , so I can’t show you those\u00a0(perhaps I will show those too sometime)<\/strong><\/span>, but here are couple other photos.
