Hame on koottu kahdesta suorakaiteen muotoisesta palasta jotka on laskostettu vy\u00f6t\u00e4r\u00f6lt\u00e4. Kumpaankin kappaleeseen on ommeltu nauhat joilla kappaleet solmitaan vy\u00f6t\u00e4r\u00f6lle kietaisumalliin. Hamekappaleet on ommeltu sivuista yhteen ja helma on p\u00e4\u00e4rm\u00e4tty. Eritt\u00e4in yksinkertainen ja nopeasti valmistuva hame. K\u00e4sin ommellen luonnollisesti vie enemm\u00e4n aikaa, mutta jos tekee ty\u00f6n koneella niin hame valmistuu parissa tunnissa (laskostaminen on hidasta)<\/strong><\/span>. Paita on tyypillinen aluspaita-malli, joka lukemani mukaan oli k\u00e4yt\u00f6ss\u00e4 1500-luvusta 1900-luvun alkuun asti. Just a quick notification to my dear readers. It looks like Mrs Kustaava B\u00e4roth (my historic alter ego)<\/strong> <\/span>has gone completely out of her mind. In less than two days she has made 1700’s basic skirt and half of the shift too. Reason for this kind of unruly behaviour is the 1700’s fair and market in Isokyr\u00f6<\/a> in the beginning of August. Mrs Shopkeeper can’t possibly go out on a public place in any rags, now can she.<\/p>\n

Skirt is made of two rectangular pieces, which are pleated on the waist. Ribbons have been sewn on both pleated waists. Then sideseams are sewn and skirt is hemmed.Very simple and quick skirt to make. If you sew by hand, it takes naturally a bit longer, by machine just couple hours (allthough pleating is slow to make).<\/p>\n

Shift is typical style, which apparently was in use basically from the 1500’s to the beginning of 1900’s. If I understood correctly. Cutting utilizes the whole fabric as well as possible, not much leftovers on it. Unfortunately I’m a bit broke and hasty, so I used some shirt material from my stash. That is most likely viscose or cotton-viscose mix. So the quality leaves a lot to be desired, but works as a practice project. I swear that I will make the next one more to period (greetings to Noora, who always educates me on these things, and btw, makes fabulous Regency gowns\u00a0)<\/strong><\/span> You can find the instructions to the shift here.<\/a><\/p>\n

Apron is thrifted couple \u00a0years ago. Hopefully I have time to make also jumps (preferably topstitched)<\/strong><\/span>, cap and pockets. Then my outfit would be complete. I assume the cap is quite fast tomake, but jumps probably takes lots of time. Let’s see how it goes.<\/p>\n
